Grandma Loves to Teach Sewing

Few things in life are as sweet as working with young members of your family teaching them things your own grandmother taught you.  Now that Miss V is 8, she's been learning to sew.  I didn't want her to have to mess with my machine as it has too many bells and whistles, so bought a Pfaff Passport when they came out last year for the granddaughters, and perhaps grandson eventually, to learn to sew on.  It's a sweet little machine and while mine was in getting its annual checkup, I even used it to sew robes for Misses E & K for their birthdays.  It has the Pfaff IDT and takes the feet I use on my machine, so it was a good choice.

We had a small Grandma Camp during the holidays, and V got to sew a piece of clothing for her American Girl doll for the first time. She picked out a denim scrap from my stash and then trimmed it with rick rack from my own Grandmother's stash that actually had metal  woven into it.  Think I'll have to sew identical ones with different trim for her sisters before too long.  Easy to do and I still have the machine and serger set up to complete them.

Next she wants to learn to knit.
